| Guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist
William vonReichbauer performs throughout the Southeastern United
States, appearing as a recitalist, chamber musician, and accompanist. His performances include works ranging from the Renaissance to
world-premiers of new music. His compositions can be heard
in concert halls in both the United States and in Europe. In 2004, his work, Resonance for flute and piano, was
premiered at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New
York City. Mr. vonReichbauer periodically
records music for motion pictures and writes works for dance with choreographer/dancer Heather Nabors. He performs regularly on upright bass with The Darnell Woodies and The Bo-Stevens.
He received his Bachelor of Music degree
from the North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied guitar
under Gerald Klickstein. He also studied music composition
with composers Kenneth Frazelle and Michael Rothkopf. He
is the recipient of several awards including the Semans Art Fund
Grant from the North Carolina School of the Arts Foundation to
study in Iserlohn, Germany.
Mr. vonReichbauer has served on the
faculties of several colleges and universities. He taught
guitar, music theory, and ear training at the North Carolina School
of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC. He also served as guitar
instructor for Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC
and for the Salem College Community Music School in Winston-Salem,
NC. Most recently, he taught guitar, bass guitar, and piano for Arena
Sound Music Instruction in Washington, DC.
An accomplished administrator, Mr. vonReichbauer has worked for numerous performing arts organizations. Most recently, he worked as Operations Manager for the 2010 Magnolia Baroque Festival in Winston-Salem, NC. Previously, he served as Director of Operations and Artistic Administration and Webmaster for the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC for the 2009 season and as Stage
Manager, Residency Director, Education Coordinator, Housing Coordinator,
and Webmaster for the Albany Symphony in Albany, NY during the 2007-2008 season. He has also held positions with the Winston-Salem
Symphony and the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County,
both in North Carolina, and Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston,
SC.
In 2001, Mr. vonReichbauer organized
“An Evening of New Music;” a concert consisting of
ten world-premiere performances of works by North Carolina composers. He was also researcher for New York Times best-selling
author and National Book Award recipient, Edward Ball for his
book, "Peninsula of Lies: A True Story of Mysterious Birth
and Taboo Love." Additionally, he
designs and maintains numerous websites for individuals and arts organizations.
He currently lives
with his two cats, Dmitri and Mina,
in Winston-Salem, NC.
